Shuttle Welcome Ceremony Could Bring Traffic
(Manassas, VA) — Today’s kickoff of the four-day “Welcome Discovery” celebration near Dulles may bring delays to Manassas area roadways. The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission is cautioning commuters who drive along I-66 and other roads in the area to expect more traffic than usual. The events for the transfer of the space shuttle Discovery are set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Smithsonian’s Udvar-Hazy [[ Oodvar-Hazzy ]] Center in Chantilly. The celebration will continue through the weekend with a special program for students tomorrow and family activities on Saturday and Sunday. The shuttle arrived at Dulles Airport on Tuesday on the back of a modified jumbo jet.
