Anti-Gay Slur On Twitter Lands Amare Stoudemire $50,000 Fine
New York Knick Amer Stoudemire will pay for an anti-gay comment he made on Twitter. Though the homophobic comment was made via Direct Message to a critical fan, the NBA hit Stoudemire with a $50,000 fine.
The fan, @BFerrelli, apparently wanted Stoudemire to step up his game after an upset this past season. According to the Urban Informer He tweeted to the power forward:
“You better come back stronger and quicker to make up for last season mannnnnn deadasss!!!”
Stoudemire sent him a private message that read:
Stoudemire sent an apology a few hours later. Maybe someone who caught wind of it put him in check. When will these celebs learn that anti-gay slurs just aren’t tolerable.
