Now That's Something: Jeff Bradshaw Does A Jazz Remake Of Mos Def's "My Umi Says"
Now That’s Something: A Jazz Remake Of Mos Def’s “My Umi Says”
We just saw Mos Def take it to the next level performing Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard In Da Paint” in front of a 50-piece orchestra.
Joined by Fatin Dantzler of Kindred The Family Soul, trombone player Jeff Bradshaw — who’s just been added to Jill Scott‘s Summer Block Party Tour — has taken Mos Def’s classic song, “My Umi Says,” and turned it into smooth jazz. (Well, it kinda always was a jazz song, wasn’t it?)
Hate it or love it, it’s just one more piece of evidence of hip-hop’s inevitable evolution.
Peep Bradshaw’s video here and the original Mos Def track below it and tell us your thoughts.
