LANDOVER, MD – Effective immediately, Jericho Baptist Church Ministries, Inc., also known as the Jericho City of Praise and City of Praise (“Jericho”), has terminated the employment of Elder Joel R. Peebles, Sr. While this decision was not made without prayerful consideration and patience, it became clear that this action was necessary to protect Jericho and move forward, while remaining in compliance with the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service for a 501(c)(3) religious organization.
Steps taken today will ensure an orderly transition that will continue to provide thousands of people from across the region the opportunity to participate in worship, school and other services that are a vital part of our Church and community.
Today begins a new day forJericho. The Board of Trustees is moving quickly to ensure healing within theJericho community. Yet each day forward we will work to honor Bishop James R. Peebles, Sr. and our Beloved Apostle Betty P. Peebles, and will continue the work of the great ministry they established four decades ago while aspiring to great heights in the service of God.
