WASHINGTON, DC, NOVEMBER 12, 2011: ::: Xi Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc will host 300 plus 6th thru 8th graders for Girls Rock: Emerging Young Leaders Empowerment Conference to be held on November 12, 2011 from 9:00am- 3:30 pm at the Walker Jones Education Campus, 1125 New Jersey Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20001.
This FREE conference is designed to empower young girls to address issues relating to self esteem, conflict resolution, fitness and healthy living and personal relationships. The workshops have eye catching titles to attract the girls’ attention such as Still Standing which deals with sexual health, Pretty Girls Swag which encompasses presentation and social networking. There is also a special training workshop for parents and guardians who want to learn skills to better advocate for improved education, health and the social well being of their girls. Essay contest winners will receive special prizes.
