Freshman students are usually considered to be square newbies in school, but when you are apart of XXL Magazine’s freshman class, you are considered to make it!
Although we are in the second season of the year, and close to starting the fourth month, it is never too late for XXL to release who is in their freshman class. Every year the magazine features artists who are next up in hip hop. Last year, French Montana, Iggy Azalea, Future, and Macklemore were some to grace the cover. All of those artists and their other classmates had a good year last year, but now with 2013 being the year, new freshman have been welcomed.
This year’s class of freshman include Trinidad James, Joey Bada$$, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Logic, Action Bronson, Kirko Bangz, Travi$ Scott, Dizzy Wright, and female rapper Angel Haze. Chicago rapper Chief Keef also made the list, but due to his circumstances a simple “The 11th Freshman Cheif Keef” had to suffice as his photo opp.
A lot of the freshman are not exactly “fresh”, as they have dropped mixtapes and some even albums, before making the list. Now that they are on the list however, more people can hear their music.
