Some people will do anything for a little bit of money. A man killed his wife for the insurance money. However, the insurance money wasn’t the only reason he killed his wife. Th man killed his wife after he realized he didn’t love her because he liked men more.
Chicago prosecutors say Darron Brewer, 26, made plans to have his wife Kenyatae Coller-Brewer, 22, killed to get her insurance money. She worked for the United States National Guard and had secured an insurance policy through her job.
The prosecutors allege Brewer, along with his younger brother Dujuan Powe, plotted to kill his young wife before he ended the marriage so that he could live off the hefty insurance sum. What makes this worse is that the couple have two children together and it’s never mentioned what Brewer planned to do with his children.
The Assistant State Attorney Jeff Allen stated the brothers planned to strangle Kenyatae Coller-Brewer in the couple’s home in October of 2009. However, the first person hired for the job couldn’t go through with it. Rather he and Coller-Brewer engaged in consensual sex.
Brewer faked a carjacking where he forced his wife into the trunk of the car. He then shot and killed her on October 25, 2009. Both brothers are charged in the murder and the trial is expected to last quite a while.
