Here is some good news for students and parents in the Virginia area!

With school beginning for some, and the start date approaching rapidly for others, it is time to get ready.  The state of Virginia will make the back to school shopping easier this year, as they plan to have a tax free weekend for back to school shopping.  Giving shoppers a break on buying supplies.

Yesterday, Governor Bob McDonnell released the dates for the tax free weekend in Virginia.  August 2nd through August 4th, will begin the sales tax holiday.  During this time, retailers will not add tax to items such as notebooks, pens, calculators, binders, etc. No tax will go towards school supplies and items that total up to $20.

Not only will tax for school supplies be exempt, but clothes totaling to $100 will also not receive any tax during August 2-4.  This is great news for students and even greater news for the parents who have to buy the items!  More information can be found through Virginia’s Department Of Taxation.
