Barneys New York has cancelled, the launch party for their collaborative collection, “A New York Holiday,” reports WWD. The party, planned as a fundraiser for Jay’s nonprofit, the Shawn Carter Foundation, was scheduled to take place at an off-site location Wednesday (Nov. 20), the same day that the collection will be made available in-store and online. The news of the cancellation comes on the heels of a statement released by Jay Z with new terms and conditions of the collaboration as a result of allegations of racial profiling at Barneys. With the new rules, Jay Z’s foundation will benefit from 100% of the proceeds of the collaboration. According to Barney’s, the cancellation is due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
