Antoine Fuqua is having a very good year.  After surprising movie insiders with the box office success of “Olympus Has Fallen” earlier this year (it grossed $161 million domestically), Disney has tapped the “Training Day” director to helm their Jesse Owens biopic.

The movie will be an adaptation of “Triumph”, which recounts Owens’ childhood in 1920′s Cleveland to his historic turn at the 1936 Olympics, winning four gold medals in the running and long jump competitions.

The script will be written by David Seidler, who won the Best Screenplay Oscar for 2010′s “The King’s Speech.”

Fuqua is gearing up to direct the boxing drama, “Southpaw” with Jake Gyllenhaal in 2014 and will reunite with Denzel Washington in the action thriller “The Equalizer”,  slated for a September 2014 release.
