While Aaliyah’s estate fight to make sure her life is honored in the BIGGEST way possible, which means making her biopic a film and not just a Lifetime film (along with a few other disagreements), they may have another battle on their hands.

Early in Aaliyah’s career, it was rumored that the ‘Back & Forth’ singer was illegally married to R.Kelly. While the two denied any union, there was reportedly a marriage certificate that showed that they were married but Aaliyah’s age had been changed to show as 18. With a taboo situation as this, most would think they they would let Aaliyah ‘rest in peace’, but according to the Executive Producer the biopic, the relationship between the two will be televised.

Executive producer Debra Martin Chase told Page Six, “Aaliyah’s personal and professional relationship with R. Kelly will be explored with care in the film as we set out to depict her life with the utmost respect. Above all else, it’s our hope to inspire an entirely new generation with her music and larger-than-life talent.”

Disney star, Zendaya Coleman, is set to star as Aaliyah in the film.

Do you think her relationship with R.Kelly is necessary to include in the film? Are they going to talk about her rumored relationship with Jay Z and Dame Dash?
