Activist, author, and speaker Dr. Cornel West was among 49 people who were arrested while protesting in Ferguson, Missouri on Monday. Journalist Craig Cheatham tweeted a photo of West being arrested.
Dr. West was in Ferguson, Missouri to support the “Ferguson October” rally, which was attended by over 1,000 protesters. West joined the demonstrations at St. Louis University on Sunday night.
“It’s a beautiful thing to see people on fire for justice, but I didn’t come here to give a speech,” West said Sunday night, “I came here to go to jail.
