Actress Sanaa Lathan arrives at the prem

Sanaa Lathan will play two major roles in the upcoming film adaptation of Omar Tyree’s classic urban book, Flyy Girl. On screen she will star as the main character Tracy Ellison, while also taking on the behind the scenes role of executive producer. Lathan shared her excitement for the upcoming role with Variety:

“So many people have grown up on this series and I’m looking forward to bringing Tracy Ellison’s story to life through film,” Lathan said. “It’s my hope to continue to help bring diverse stories to the big screen.”

The trilogy explores the journey of a young African-American woman motivated by the material things in life; she gets caught up in the world of sex, violence and heartache as she attempts to find herself and work towards achieving her goals during the modern hip-hop era.

We can’t wait to see the outcome.

Michael Ealy

Michael Ealy is taking over for Ryan Phillippe, and has been announced as the new leading man on the ABC series Secrets & Lies. He will star opposite Juliette Lewis in the role of Eric Warner; Juliette’s detective role will investigate the murder of his wife. Deadline provided an exclusive character description:

“Smart, well-educated and hard working, Warner is at the top of his game — he’s the heir apparent to his family’s private equity firm in Charlotte, NC, newly married to ‘the one’ and walking on air. Eric is attending a party to honor dad passing over the reins when suddenly tragedy strikes — his wife Kate is murdered, and life, as he knows it, is over.”

'Aloha' - Los Angeles Premiere

Emma Stone told The Wall Street Journal she turned down a role on the all-female cast in the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot because she wasn’t sure she wanted to commit to another series of franchise movies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stone said:

“The script was really funny. It just didn’t feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment — it’s a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water.”

Stone has been a part of franchises in the past, most recently playing Gwen Stacey in Sony’s two Amazing Spider-man movies.

Tennessee Titans v Indianapolis Colts

While America loved The Blind Side, Carolina Panthers player Michael Ohner did not. Ohner and his journey to the NFL served as the inspiration behind the hit movie. However, Ohner believes it hurt his football career much more than it helped it.

After a disagreement with defensive end Kony Ealy, Ohner was asked if he felt he needed to prove his worth after lackluster performances the past two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans. His response via E! Online?

“I’m not trying to prove anything. People look at me, and they take things away from me because of a movie. They don’t really see the skills and the kind of player I am. That’s why I get downgraded so much, because of something off the field.”

Ohner has spoken out in the past about his desire to separate himself from the portrayal of his career.
