No matter how far A$AP Ferg‘s name goes in the future, he is making sure his hometown of Harlem is always taken care of.
The A$AP Mob member, The Children’s Village and People of Peace, hosted the 1st annual Ferg Health Fair day in the New York City neighborhood on Sunday, where he catered to the health and wellness of under-privileged youth.
On top of receiving a health voucher towards physical and mental self-embattlement, each participant who came out was able to take part in tons of activities.
From getting one-on-one DJ lessons from the Jam Master Jay Foundation and Scratch Academy, to full health exams, the youth were well-catered to in their day of fun at the fair.
The event has come together as the brainchild of Ferg, who is carrying out the legacy of his late father, who went by “D-Ferg” to his local community.
Ferg commented on how meaningful it was to carry out his dad’s legacy:
“Growing up, my Dad always emphasized the vitality of giving back to the community and making sure we never gave up on our dreams. His encouragement motivated me to never settle and he’s the reason I am where I am today, but I’m not the only one. My dad spent his life helping kids in the community stay off the streets and make something of themselves. He may be gone but his legacy lives on through the people of our neighborhood and all the lives he touched.”
POP Founder and CEO Yelda Ali also said of helping to host the event:
“Ferg is really trying to create a social movement in Harlem and give back to his community,” states POP Founder and CEO Yelda Ali. “We were thrilled to help him pop off the first annual Ferg Fair.“
Ferg also ended the day’s activities with a private concert for the youth, including a set by him, as well as some hand-picked local artists.
