DC Parents And Concerned Citizens Wage Protests As A Planned Parenthood Clinic Opens Near Children’s Schools

One of the most elite charter schools in DC is going to be seeing a lot of protests and controversy in the upcoming months. Next spring, Planned Parenthood is opening its new flagship health center that will offer preventative care and abortions just next door to the Two Rivers Public Charter School. Across the street sits a campus for a middle school.

Concerned DC residents believe that placing the clinic so closely to the schools will hamper with local children’s safety, given the oncoming protests and graphic images that will likely be circulated or put on display surrounding the clinic. People are also concerned that the clinic is a challenge to families of students with religious beliefs that conflict with the pro-choice movement. However, supporters argue that Planned Parenthood clinics have successfully built relationships with nearby schools in the past by educating students on reproductive health.
