Hampton University, the historically Black college founded in 1868 in Virginia, made history recently as the first HBCU with a Division I lacrosse team. The university also became the 70th NCAA Division I program with a men’s lacrosse team. The only other HBCU to field a lacrosse team was Morgan State University in 1981, though the university competed at a Division II level. On Saturday, ESPN broadcasted “SportsCenter on the Road” from Hampton’s Armstrong Stadium to speak with lacrosse head coach, Lloyd Carter, about the history making sports moment. Read more.


Kobe Bryant Gets Air Jordan’s As Retirement Gift

NBA great Kobe Bryant received a sweet retirement gift before his final NBA All-Star Game on Saturday — every pair of air Jordan’s from I to XXX. Bryant received the gifts at a Jordan Brand party on Friday night before the weekend festivities began. Jordan Brand President Larry Miller presented the sneakers from one legend to another. “(Michael Jordan) and I have had such a beautiful relationship since I first came into the league, and he’s really been a big brother to me really throughout this entire journey,” Bryant said. “I told him, ‘You have no idea how much I worked to try to find a pair of these shoes when I was in high-school.’ Now I have the whole collection, which is pretty sweet.” Read more.


Kanye West Claims He Is $53 Million In Debt

Following a highly-anticipated fashion show and the release of his newest album, The Life Of Pablo, Kanye West took to Twitter to reveal he’s $53 million in debt. “I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt… Please pray we overcome… This is my true heart,” he wrote. On Sunday, the rapper appealed to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to help him with his money woes. “Mark Zuckerberg invest 1 billion dollars into Kanye West ideas,” he tweeted. “Mark Zuckerberg I know it’s your bday but can you please call me by 2mrw. World, please tweet, FaceTime, Facebook, instagram, whatever you gotta do to get Mark to support me.” It’s unclear if West, who in recent weeks has used Twitter to stir controversy, is making a serious plea.
