While Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has made a big deal out of blocking Syrian refugees from entering the United States out of fear of terrorism, the truth is that right-wing extremists are a much greater threat than terrorists linked to ISIS or similar organizations.
ThinkProgress reports that Islamic extremists accounted for 50 fatalities over the past 13 and a half years. “Meanwhile, right-wing extremists averaged 337 attacks per year in the decade after 9/11, causing a total of 254 fatalities,” the report says.
Above are just a few examples of domestic terrorism that have occurred in the nation, including the Colorado Planned Parenthood shooting on November 27, 2015, Emanuel AME shooting on June 17, 2015, and the Virginia Tech shooting on April 16, 2007.
