This week’s featured artist is Sherell Rowe.
Introduce yourself to the world?
My name is Sherell Rowe. I am a pop artist coming out of the DMV area. I was born in Honolulu, HI and I was a military brat so I have had the opportunity to live and experience many different cultures. Music is one of passions and I wear many hats when it comes to this game. I sing, dance, write, vocal produce, engineer, etc. I genuinely love what I do.
What has been a highlight in your music endeavors so far?
I recently cut a record with Snoop Dogg called “Talk Dirty” which will be released in 2012.
What can people expect from your music?
Definitely expect a lot of versatility. I grew up on so many different genres of music and I like to channel those influences into my own sound. And I write almost all of my music so everything you hear is giving you a piece of who I am and my personality.
Are you looking to sign with a major or indie label?
At this point I’m not really tripping off of signing with a major but I’m not knocking it. Nowadays artists have the ability to do it themselves especially if you have a good team behind you and you remain focused.
What are some of your musical influences?
The Manhattans, Otis Redding, Aaron Neville, Teena Marie, George Michael, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Prince, Aaliyah, Beyonce, Brandy
When laying down the track in the studio, how do you like your sessions?
I’ve recorded in so many different studios with so many different people it really doesn’t matter to me. I pretty much adapt to any environment I’m in. The only thing I have an issue with is cigarette smoke in the studio. I can’t stand cigarettes Lol
