WASHINGTON – Metro is planning to install cameras on rail cars after accepting a federal homeland security grant.

The transit agency’s board of directors voted last week to accept nearly $28 million to pay for cameras. Metro Transit Police Deputy Chief Jeff Delinski says the primary purpose will be crowd control. He says police will also be able to go back and retrieve footage when necessary.
