(Washington, DC)  —  The DC Council will hold a hearing today on Mayor Vincent Gray’s proposal to extend bar hours in the city to raise more revenue.  Councilman Jim Graham is opposed to the move, saying longer bar hours would create more problems in DC neighborhoods.

Graham says one revenue-generating idea would be a six-cent-tax per-drink on liquor at the wholesale level, which could bring in about 20-million dollars.  Councilman Graham has also said that Sunday liquor sales could be an alternative to longer bar hours and that could bring in 700-thousand dollars.
