Other recommendations are the avocado stuffed with smoked herring salad and served on cassava crackers and conch salad, stew crabs with eggplant, and fried fish.

Described as an institution, Versailles celebrated its 40th anniversary last year. Nestled in Little Havana, Versailles dishes out authentic Cuban cuisine at affordable prices in a kitschy atmosphere. Menu selections include assorted croquettes (served with a tasty aioli), ropa vieja (a stewed dish of shredded beef in a tomato and pepper broth), and vaca frita (crispy shredded beef with onions).

5. Bombay Darbar

Bombay Darbar is an establishment known for serving up delicious traditional Indian fare, including chicken tikka masala and naan bread and crab or vegetable samosas. The chicken tandoori — marinated in yogurt, rubbed dry with spices, and then cooked in a clay oven — is also popular.
