When you say the name, Jermaine Dupri, one thing comes to mind…So So Def.
So So Def has been a major part in music history. Some may even say that So So helped to bring Atlanta up in the hip hop game. Not only did they put ATL on the map, but they also introduced the 90’s to some of the best artists in that decade. On the So So Def camp was, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, and Kris Kross. Since starting around 1992, So So has been around for two decades!!
Today, Jermaine Dupri, founder of So So Def, announced that there will be an All-Star Anniversary Concert with So So Def artists. Yes, this means that some of ATL’s greatest will be reuniting and crankin’ all the hits! The concert is said to be held next month, February 23rd, at the Fox Theater in Atlanta.
Here’s what Jermaine Dupri had to say about So So Def and the concert :
“Not only is it an honor to be able to stand here 20 years after our very first release in 1993 — Xscape’s #1 single ‘Just Kickin It’ – but it’s truly an achievement that we can bring everyone back together to celebrate over two decades of music excellence. We also acknowledge 1992 as the year when So So Def Productions introduced to the world Kris Kross, who had everyone jumping,”.
Congratulations to So So Def and it’s legend. I’m hoping I can make it out to that concert next month. Xscape is performing, and who knows when that will happen again!
