Beyonce Headlines Glastonbury - Our Moments in Black History
Beyonce The First Black Female To Headline Glastonbury
On June 22, 2011 King B graced Glastonbury’s main festival stage and performed hit after hit ranging from Destiny’s Child material to her recent work.
Why was this as big moment for Black history? One of rock’s biggest festivals was taken over not only by a woman, but a beautiful Black diva — something that had never been done before. Beyonce put herself in the company of Curtis Mayfield, Johnny Cash, Rage Against the Machine, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, and Oasis as a headliner of the festival.
As she continues to break barriers, Beyonce is living proof that girls can run the world.
