Although Ashanti has not been in the spotlight like most artists, it doesn’t mean that she hasn’t been working.

We haven’t heard any new music from her, due to the fact that she has been focusing on her own business ventures.  Ashanti now has her own label, Written Entertainment, and is also an anchor and Executive Producer on FUSE news.  Now if you think her work stops here, think again.

Along with being a host, producer, and business woman, the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter is also an actress!  While away from music, Ashanti played Dorothy in an off-Broadway play of “The Wiz”, which sparked her to take her acting talents to prime time television!  Ashanti has gained a role on the hit T.V. show ‘Army Wives’.

‘Army Wives’ will be going into it’s seventh season this year.  If you have been under a rock for the first six seasons, ‘Army Wives’  is a show about just that wives of those serving in the Army.  The show portrays the struggles that the women go through while their significant other is away serving the country.  Ashanti agreed to play one of those women on the show, by the name of Latasha Montclair.

In the role of Latasha Montclair, Ashanti will play a southern belle juggling three little children, while her husband serves an overseas deployment.  Joshua Henry will be playing the role of Quincy, her husband.  The 13 episodes will start airing this month on the 10th.  Check your local listings, so you can see Ashanti in action.

Guess that break-up with long time beau Nelly didn’t phase her too much huh!?
