Ariel Castro, the Cleveland man accused of kidnapping and holding captive three young women for a decade had his bail set at $8 million this morning.

Castro, 52, is charged with four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape. His bail was set at $2 million per charge. Cleveland Municipal Judge Lauren C. Moore’s intent was to keep Castro in jail and he was ordered not to have any contact with the three women or their families.

Castro was in court with his brothers Onil and Pedro, but those two have not been charged. They were in court for outstanding misdemeanors and then they were released. Prosecutors have said that there is no evidence to prove that Onil Castro, 50, and Pedro Castro, 54, were involved.

As for Ariel, his public defender Kathleen DeMetz says it is “very unlikely” that he will make bond.
