An application for a street named after the late Notorious B.I.G was denied. Lucy Koteen, a Brooklyn official stated why:

“He started selling drugs at 12, he was a school dropout at 17, he was arrested for drugs and weapons charge, he was arrested for parole violations, he was arrested in North Carolina for crack cocaine, in 1996 he was again arrested for assault, he had a violent death, and physically the man is not exactly a role model for youth. I don’t see how this guy was a role model, and frankly it offends me.”

Along with these reasons, officials also stated that B.I.G appearance was not that of a role model. The street “Christopher Wallace Way” was set to be located on the corner of St. James Place and Fulton Street. Wow! Yes B.I.G had a record and his lyrics were not the cleanest but he left this world a changed man. He showed us that you can change your actions for the better and do the impossible no matter where you’re from or what you’ve done. Let’s not forget.
