Imagine being single, unemployed with 2 kids, no babysitter… and you have a job interview to go to. What would you do? Shanesha Taylor, a 35 year old woman from Scottsdale, Arizona was in that predicament and the decision she made got her arrested and she is now facing charges of child abuse.
According to a Scottsdale police report, someone heard a child crying inside a Dodge Durango parked in an office complex parking lot.
Police say the vehicle was parked in direct sunlight and the children, 2 years old and 6 months old, were alone.
The bystander called police and officers and firefighters responded.
Police say 35-year-old Shanesha Taylor returned to the vehicle about 45 minutes after the passerby found the unattended boys.
Taylor told officers she had just finished a job interview and did not have anyone to take care of her children, according to the police report.
“She was upset. This is a sad situation all around. She said she was homeless. She needed the job. Obviously not getting the job. So it’s just a sad situation,” said Scottsdale Police Sergeant Mark Clark.
She was arrested and booked into jail for child abuse.
Police say Child Protective Services took custody of the children.
