Elton John dragged Janet Jackson in a recent Rolling Stone article.
The artist started ranting about the “Unbreakable” star saying, “You know, f–king music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson saying, ‘This is the greatest show—four and a half stars.’ It’s f–king lip-synced! Hello! That’s not a show!” he says.“I’d rather go and see a drag queen. F–k off.”
Okay, but why?
Elton seems to take personal offense to artists not singing. As an OG in the game, he doesn’t take too kindly to modern day shortcuts. Not too long ago he destroyed Madonna for lip-synching during her shows.
“Madonna, best live act? F–k off,” he told the audience at the Q Awards in 2004. “Since when has lip-syncing been live? Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs on stage in public when you pay like 75 quid to see them should be shot. Thank you very much. That’s me off her Christmas card list, but do I give a toss? No.”
Okay so memo to every star ever, perform live, even if you suck, or your throat hurts, or you’re sick.
Otherwise, Sir Elton will tear you to shreds.
