Working the Runway
Yesterday, youth 24 years and younger presented “Working the Runway” fashion show at Hyatt, Washington, DC. Youth who were thought to be lost showed they knew their way to better lifestyles with the help of mentors like Ronald Moten, Dionne Reeder, Chief Groomes of MPD and a host of others that work in the community daily. The event was hosted by Deja Perez, DJ Flava of 93.9 WKYS and Dbailey.
Over 300 people attended the event. Fashion statements were made in every scene with apparel made by the youth. CheckIt, a clothing company created by youth that was headed down the wrong path changed their ways and set their life to a positive direction uplifting others. In addition to the runway, youth also expressed their skills by singing, rapping and acting.
