Coke Now Offers Paternity Leave To New Fathers

In efforts to recruit and retain millennial employees, Coca-Cola has announced that it will now offer paid leave to new fathers. Presently, it’s required by law for companies with 50 or more employees to provide new mothers with 12 weeks of unpaid leave. Now, Coke joins the likes of Bank of America, Johnson & Johnson and Goldman Sachs who will extend six weeks of paid leave to all U.S. employees that have new babies; this provision also applies to adoptive parents and foster parents. AJC

Woman Goes Shopping At Funeral Home

Surveillance footage caught an unidentified woman walking up to an open corpse at Sunset Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas. While it looks as if the woman is paying her respects to the deceased, she’s actually reviewing the elderly woman’s assets. The thief leans in, takes a ring off of the deceased and promptly walks out of the door. The family has been described as “heartbroken” that the funeral will take place without the beloved heirloom. Police have yet to find the suspect. KTXS

Facebook Will Better Regulate Clothing Scams 

A multitude of Chinese retailers have spent thousands of dollars in Facebook ads in order to promote sell of designer clothes at cheap prices. Reportedly, the photos that these companies are using to market their products have been stolen from other websites and even people’s social media pages. DressLily, TideBuy, and Zaful are just three of the various companies that have allegedly misrepresented their clothing options, in addition to taking weeks, sometimes months to ship the item which is oftentimes unwearable and difficult to return. With these fake brand pages having thousands of “likes”, oftentimes surpassing reputable companies. Facebook has admitted that they currently don’t have a feature that safeguards a users negative purchasing experience because comments on a brand’s page can simply be deleted. “We’re looking at ways to incorporate new signals that will help us identify which of the over 50 million active businesses on our platform are delivering products and services that are overwhelmingly unsatisfactory to people” said Andrew Bosworth, Facebook’s vice president of ads and pages. Bosworth also said, “We understand the gravity of this issue and we’re taking it very seriously.” BuzzFeed

Uber Will Donate $1M To Programs For Veterans

Ride sharing app Uber is doing their part to help military veterans reacclimate themselves following a tour of duty. In 2014, the company launched UberMilitary which allows former service members an opportunity to earn a “flexible income”. The program recently employed their 50,000th veteran. In celebration for this feat, Uber is giving $1M to groups including Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and Homes for our Troops. Uber said it plans to offer more perks to the UberMilitary community as well as drivers to and customers that begin their commute from a military bases. Huff Post
