M.I.A Slams The VMAs After Being Snubbed

M.I.A has never been shy about sharing her opinion—so her recent social media rant comes as no surprise.
The songstress lashed out at the MTV VMAs on Thursday after her music video “Borders” wasn’t nominated. In a series of tweets, M.I.A slammed the show, saying:

Just last year, Nicki Minaj was in the same position, calling the show racist after her video “Anaconda” was not nominated while Taylor Swift racked up a bunch of nominations that year. Minaj tweeted, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”
The MTV VMAs air Sunday, August 28, at 9 p.m.
