Truck Driver In Tracy Morgan’s Horrific Car Crash Strikes A Deal

It’s been over a year and a half since Tracy Morgan‘s nearly fatal car crash and the man who drove the truck that nearly ended his life has struck a plea deal in hopes of dodging jail time.

According to reports, the driver, Kevin Roper, pled guilty to vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated assault on Tuesday stemming from the 2014 crash that severely injured Tracy and killed his friend, James McNair.

The agreement says that Roper will enter a three year intervention program that includes 300 hours of community service and if he stays out of trouble after that, the charges will be dropped. However, the judge still needs to sign off on it.

Roper’s attorney, David Glassman says the deal was “an exceptional result and opportunity given the serious nature of the charges and potential for far more serious outcomes. Kevin is grateful for this opportunity to get these charges dismissed and move on with his life.” 

The deal comes just after Walmart reached a settlement with its insurance company.
