REDDZZRUNDOWN: Diddy Named in Tupac Trial, Joe & Donell Jones Face Off

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ name has surfaced in testimony during the ongoing Tupac Shakur murder case involving Duane “Keefe D” Davis. A retired Los Angeles police detective testified about statements Davis allegedly made to investigators regarding a supposed payment connected to Shakur’s 1996 killing. According to the testimony, Davis claimed Combs was supposed to provide money through an intermediary known as “Zip,” with the money ultimately intended for Davis.
The allegations connecting Combs to Shakur’s death have circulated publicly for years and do not establish that Combs was involved in the killing. Combs has previously denied allegations that he played a role in Shakur’s murder.
Davis is accused of orchestrating the drive-by shooting that killed Shakur in Las Vegas nearly 30 years ago. The renewed testimony is putting decades-old claims surrounding one of hip-hop’s most infamous unsolved cases back into the spotlight.
Outside the courtroom, R&B fans have something much lighter to debate.
Joe and Donell Jones are preparing to go head-to-head in a Verzuz battle, giving fans a chance to revisit two catalogs packed with late-’90s and early-2000s R&B favorites.
