Locked Up! Beanie Sigel Sentenced To Even More Jail Time
Looks like Beanie Sigel won’t be seeing the streets of Philly for a while. Sigel was recently sentenced to six to 23 months in prison after pleading guilty to a narcotics possession charge in a Philadelphia suburb.
According to BET, the former Roc-A-Fella rapper was sentenced Wednesday in Delaware County court to six to 23 months on drug charges stemming from an August arrest. Sigel, born Dwight Grant, is already serving two years fed time for failing to pay approximately $348,000 in taxes.
On August 29, Sigel and a friend were arrested by state police after a traffic stop on I-95 in Philly. Cops searched the car and found that Sigel was in possession of a bottle of unlabeled codeine syrup and $4,650 in cash. Meanwhile, several prescription pills and a small amount of marijuana were found on the driver, Gerald Andrews of Philadelphia. A loaded gun was found concealed in the car’s center console. Andrews and Sigel were slapped with gun and drug offenses.
Sigel was sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance before Judge Michael F.X. Coll. The gun charges were dismissed.
Andrews, meanwhile, pleaded guilty to firearm possession and received two-and-a-half to five years in state prison, according to Emily Harris, spokesperson for the district attorney’s office.
