Congrats to the hometown homie Wale for topping the Billboard 200 charts at number one with his latest album “The Gifted”. Wale shared his excitement and gratitude via his social media saying:

“Today is a day I want my fans to be extra proud. We have the #1 album in the country!! Came a long way and still goin. So grateful!” wrote on his page, “Today is a day I want my fans to be extra. proud. We have the #1 album in the country!! Came a long way and still goin. So grateful!”

The 28-year-old Washington, D.C. native also revealed that he’s received an outpouring of support from some of hip-hop’s elite, including Rick Ross and Jay-Z. He tweeted to his 1.2 million followers, “Talked to jay n Rozay this mornin .. Congratulating on my first #1 Man that’s s good feeling when n****s u look up to tell u u in a zone!”

Wale definetly won’t let anybody steal his “Sunshine” (one of my favorite tracks on the gifted) and to the haters he says, “N****s tryna troll durin’ my victory lap.. N****s don’t even brush they teeth before they get in my situation daily. Won’t ruin my day nope,” he wrote.

According to Wale’s official website, Rick Ross said in an interview that Wale’s “Bad” featuring Tiara Thomas, which has out-performed 2011’s “Lotus Flower Bomb” with Miguel, is deserving of “multiple Grammys this year.”

Ross added, “Wale has been so consistent, back-to-back, number-one records…its all about Wale right now.”  Billboard revealed that Wale’s latest album, The Gifted, debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart on Wednesday, projected to sell approximately 150,000 units in its first week, according to industry forecasts. The disc marks his second top-ten effort but his first number-one album to date. 2011’s Ambition debuted and peaked at number two and amassed sales of more than 164,000 in its first week.

Last week we brought Wale to DC for an exclusive KYS event where he mingled with fans and shared his thoughts about “The Gifted” Click here to check it out.
