Tell us why you’re mad LL…
Jay Z’s latest release Magna Carta Holy Grail (MCHG) has cause a lot of stir in the Hip Hop and business. Some are a little vexed at the fact that his million sold received the help of a Samsung deal, while others don’t care to much due to the fact that its Jay Z, and he is still a man to watch. Even though Samsung did purchase a million copies of MCHG, Jay Z still sold on his own; moving 528,000 units its first week, Jay Z’s 13th #1 album.
Where there is success, there is usually a green individual around the corner. Said to be G.O.A.T. (opinion) LL Cool J, had a few words towards Jay Z and his MCHG project. While on Diddy’s newest business venture, REVOLT TV, LL made comments towards MCHG, saying :
“Numbers are Numbers. In the numbers is truth, but in terms of touching the people it’s a little different. For me as an artist I still want to be able to touch the people individually.” “It still matters to me that people individually went out and bought my record. Although I still think a million sold is a million sold, but for me I like to know that a million PEOPLE bought my record, not a company bought a million copies of my record.”
Reads to me that LL is hating. But without the help of Samsung, Jay Z would still have the sales. New records will be released tomorrow, on the amount of units moved by Jay Z in the past week. Take a look at the video below of LL’s statement :
