Janet Jackson‘s husband, Wissam Al Mana has had some pretty serious accusations brought against him recently concerning the firing of an employee who claimed she was raped by a co-worker.
According to US Weekly, Marte Deborah Dalelv, a Norwegian woman who was working as an interior designer for Al Mana Interiors, (where Jackson’s husband serves as managing director), told the police that she was raped by a co-worker in March while on a business trip in Dubai.
Dubai police arrested her and took away her passport for reporting what had allegedly happened to her. She was then sentenced to 16 months in prison while the man who allegedly raped her was sentenced to 13 months in prison. However, he was said to have been sentenced to prison for having extramarital sex, and not for raping Dalelv.
Dubai follows Sharia law, which is the religious law of Islam. According to Sharia law, Dalelv “participated in extramarital sex” which is a crime with her rapist, and the court convicted her for violating the law.
Dalev is planning to appeal the sentence in September. The Norwegian Embassy was able to get her out of prison however she remains in an aid compound in Dubai.
According to reports, three weeks after she reported the rape to police, she was suspended from her job. Three weeks later, she says she received a termination letter, signed by Al Mana himself.
Al Mana wrote that her employment has been “terminated for misconduct and breach of your employment duties, effective immediately.”
But in a statement, Al Mana’s spokesman says that the billionaire has been “sympathetic” to Dalelv claiming,
“We are sympathetic to Marte Dalelv during this very difficult situation. Al Mana Interiors has repeatedly offered Marte support and company representatives were by her side throughout the initial investigation and police interviews, and spent days at both the police station and the prosecutor’s office to help win her release.”
“Company representatives have been supportive and in communication with Marte throughout her ordeal. Only when Ms. Dalelv declined to have positive and constructive discussions about her employment status, and ceased communication with her employer, was the company forced to end our relationship with her.
“The decision had nothing to do with the rape allegation, and unfortunately neither Ms. Dalelv nor her attorneys have chosen to contact the company to discuss her employment status.”
Whoa! We know there will definitely be more to this story! Buckle up kiddies there is no way this ride is going to be anything but bumpy!
