An 18-year-old high school student was killed in a science experiment gone awry. His “homemade model rocket” exploded during class, killing him and injuring his 17-year-old science partner. Police say the rocket was attached to a skateboard and when it didn’t go off, the boy went up close to check on it. That’s when the explosion occurred. [Pix 11]

Bill Clinton released a statement saying he regrets having a showdown with Black Lives Matter protesters during a Philadelphia rally. The Black Lives Matter movement has openly criticized Hillary Clinton’s campaign, recalling that her husband’s administration put policies in motion that have negatively affected the Black community. Bill Clinton only added fuel to the fire, saying that he is bothered by the protesters constantly drowning him out. [NY Times]

Police have arrested a suspect in the killing of a University of Texas student. A 17-year-old man has been charged in the murder of an 18-year-old freshman who went missing last week and whose body was found on Tuesday. Police decline to reveal the woman’s exact cause of death. [ABC News]

Authorities are investigating the case of a University of Warwick student, who found racist messages scribbled on bananas left behind by her roommate. The student tweeted a photo of the bananas with the racial remarks in disgust. In support, students have rallied together and gathered 1500 signatures for a petition demanding something to be done – specifically that the student in question be expelled. [The Grio]
