Today’s music is created largely with electronic samples which are easy to find via youtube and iTunes. Before 2005 when youtube came about, you had to search through records, tapes and CD’s at the record or thrift store.
http://www.whosampledit.com says that the top samples comes from none other than James Brown with 6083 known samples. Coming in at #2 is Public Enemy with 2346 samples.
Black music is used all over the World and in many ways. Hip-Hop which was not embraced by other cultures is now in radio/television commercials, movies and video games. Even talk show hosts are using Hip-Hop.
